Saturday, 26th April – Limited spaces, book now!
Place: Zappekin , 3 Wood Loop, Mariri, Motueka 7175
Time: 11am to 3.30pm (half hour break for lunch)
Level: Beginner-friendly

Due to the lovely response to my last workshop, I’m excited to invite you to another creative afternoon combining cyanotype printing, sashiko stitching, and boro patchwork – a beautiful blend of fabric, sunlight, memory, and slow stitching.

In this 4-hour session, each participant will create their own patchwork using cyanotype prints of their personal photographs and/or personal objects, printed on small pieces of fabric. I’ll prepare the images for printing ahead of time, and during the workshop, I’ll also walk you through the full process so you can create your own cyanotype prints at home in the future.

Once your prints are exposed and drying, we’ll briefly explore sashiko stitching, a calming Japanese embroidery technique known for its meditative rhythm and beautiful geometric patterns. Then we’ll bring it all together with boro-style patchwork, layering and stitching your cyanotype images into a unique and personal textile piece.

This workshop is about slowing down, celebrating memories, and making by hand. No experience needed – just use up to six digital photographs you’d love to see printed (I’ll send details on how to share them ahead of time). All other materials are provided. You’ll leave with a finished or in-progress piece, new skills, and plenty of inspiration to keep creating.

Let’s make something beautiful together!

I’ll provide the materials for the workshop: sashiko needle, pre-coated cyanotype fabric pieces, sashiko thread, and a base fabric to work on.

Tea will be provided, bring your own lunch.
